Liveaboard dive with The True Maldives
The True Maldives is a Maldivian company with Dutch management that is engaged in organizing adventurous diving safaris in the Maldives with an emphasis on large marine animals.
To be able to offer you the best we only organize longer trips (longer than 1 week) to be able to sail out of sync with all the other safari boats thus maximizing your dive experience.
We always have a European cruise director and a Maldivian dive guide on the boat to combine the best of both worlds.
The daily diving program consists of three dives, all on top sites and are mainly devoted to finding "big stuff".
The chances of seeing mantas and sharks is high (over the past years we have seen them during all safari's) and the chances of seeing whale sharks is also high (we have seen them during all two week safaris).
We dive on Thilas (mostly small round atoll reefs rising up from the atoll bottem), Kandu's (channels through which the ocean water flows in and out of the atolls) and Faru's (reefs).
Furthermore, we do wreck dives, night dives and drift dives.
In the ideal situation, we gradually build up the dives starting with relatively sheltered locations at the beginning of the safari so the divers can get used to the currents and we end the safari with kandu dives with lots of sharks. This, however, given the locations and tides is not always possible.
Advanced Diver Certificate minimum
Minimal requirements for our safaris is an advanced diver certificate or equivalent, a minimum of 50 logged dives and a good fysical condition. We advise you to get yourself a medical dive checkup before the safari.

We organise mainly longer safaris to sail "out of sync" with 95% of the other boats who only organise one week trips. Because of this we have most divesites to ourselves. Guest who want to dive alone with their dive buddy can do this after the checkdive. This is especially convenient for photo-and videographers who don't want anybody around.
The Dinasha is 28 meter long and 9 meters wide and has 7 cabins from which 6 cabins with a double and single bed and 1 cabine with two single beds. There is an additional cabin for the dive guide. All cabins have ensuite shower and toilet and all cabins have airconditioning and a fan. The Dinasha can accommodate 14 guests.
On the upper deck there is a large sundeck with plenty of shade and on both the front- and the reardeck there is plenty of space.
The last renovation was in 2013 when all cabins were completely renewed. In 2014, the generator was replaced and is also the main engine was overhauled.
The cruising speed of the Dinasha is 12 knots.
The accompanying dhoni holds the 2 compressors with a total capacity of 530l/min and the 80cuft aluminium dive tanks. On our dhoni we also have a 40 Liter O2 tank for emergency situations.
After the dive, the equipment remains on the dhoni and the only thing you have to do is to step on to the safari boat.
